To help keep your hair healthy and growing, follow our top tips!

Condition Your Hair

Using a conditioner after you shampoo is vital to keeping your hair healthy, however, it’s important to ensure that you are conditioning the right way! Conditioner should only be put at the ends of your hair, not at the root. This prevents your hair from becoming greasy right after you wash it. Not applying conditioner however can strip your hair and increase the amount of grease and sebum produced. Conditioning after you shampoo is a must, but it’s also a good idea to deep condition your hair every so often. Cover your hair with a good amount, put it up and let it sit for a while! Give it a quick rinse and you’ve got soft and shiny conditioned hair.

Start Brushing More

Brushing your hair is incredibly important to hair growth and health! Did you know that you should be brushing your hair twice a day, morning and night, for at least a minute? Always remember to start from the ends up. Brushing from your roots down will snag all of your knots and cause damage! Working your way up allows you to gently brush out any knots without ripping through them. When your hair is wet, it is more susceptible to damage! Be sure you are using a wide tooth comb or special detangling brush.

Cut Your Hair

This may seem counterintuitive to growing long hair, but getting your hair trimmed regularly will greatly improve its condition and ability to grow! There’s no need for a major chop each time you visit the salon, a short trim to get rid of damaged ends will keep your hair healthy and growing!

Scalp Massage

A scalp massage can be incredibly beneficial in stimulating hair growth! This will help to increase blood flow to your scalp and help get nutrients to your roots faster. You can do this with dry hair or add a nutrient rich oil to increase the benefits of your massage!

Limit Heat Styling

As we all know, heat and constant use of styling tools can damage your hair. Always be sure that you are using a heat protectant spray when using hot tools and try to make your styles last to prevent having to re-apply heat every day. Don’t skimp out on your tools either! While they may be more costly, better brushes and styling tools can significantly reduce the amount of damage done to your hair. Investing in brushes, hair dryers, flat irons, or curling irons that are made to limit the amount of harm they cause your hair will be worth it in the long run!
